To all ASDsoutheast.org forum members.
We would like to announce the families involved with establishing & running asdsoutheast.org have decided to step down and hopefully pass the group onto other like-minded parents.
This descision has not been taken lightly and is based on personal circumstances, we trust this will be respected.
We have already approached other ASD families who we thought might be interested but all have declined.
If you are interested in continuing the work we have started, please contact us via email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
The asdsoutheast forums will be offline until further notice & the support group meetings will cease until the group is handed over. If no one puts their hand up before the 1st of December, the group will be closed.
A bit of info about our group as it stands now:
ASDsoutheast was established in 2009 shortly after the first round of positive partnerships workshops
We currently have around 65 families as members of our forums and receiving emails about coming asd related events
We have run monthly support group “coffee/lunch” meetups, which usually has between 6-14 attendees. The day rotates through Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
We have a library of ASD related media for loan to our members.
In 2010 we attempted to forum a not for profit incorporation but was unsuccessful at forming a committee. We have a constitution written ready to go.
We have provisional funding from Fleurieu Philanthropy based on us forming an incorperation.
We have an established website/forums and a facebook group. The software running it is quite easy to use and we are happy to help you learn it.
None of this is set in stone and we hope someone taking it over would guide the group in their own direction. It could be downsized in function or made as big as you like.
If the group is not taken over, the library of books the group owns will be donated to a local library so people who need the books will have access to them. Anyone who has donated books to us will have their books returned.
Any remaining funds will be donated to a charity who directly assists ASD children/families in this area.
Until then, If you need support, can we suggest you visit the links below which are similar web based support groups to what we provide, many of you are members of these already.
