Some very positive news and an announcement to make.

After some negotiation in the past few months ASDsoutheast is now a program of Inclusive Directions, a local Not for Profit organisation who have an interest in Autism and related disorders. http://www.directions.org.au/

Inclusive Directions have 3 local ASD families onboard who have all been participating in the previous ASDsoutheast group. They will be volunteers of Inclusive Directions. The group will remain parent driven which we believe is important.

This is very positive for the group for several reasons.

    1. The future of the group is secure as families can come and go from the "leadership" roles.

    2. We are able to apply for grants etc. as we are under the banner of a not-for-profit incorperated organisation. This saves us a massive amount of ongoing work and also eliminates the need for a committee.

    3. We now have a venue

    4. Inclusive Directions have a home for our library.

At this stage the forums will remain closed, however the facebook group is still open.

In the next few weeks once the new team meet again there will be another email from us with details on how to signup with the new group.

We (Andrew & Leesa Burston) would like to extend our thanks to everyone who supported us getting this group up and running and made it what it is today, there are lots of you.

Fiona & Kym Bray (and family) who took on a lot of the organisation deserve a special mention here. Thankyou

To all of the local ASD professionals in the area who have supported the cause and kept us on track we also extend our thanks on behalf of the group.

At this stage we will be taking a step back and letting the new families steer the group in the direction they wish, we wish them the best and we hope to see you all at a support group meeting in the near future!

Until then, If you need support, can we suggest you visit the links below which are similar web based support groups to what we provide, many of you are members of these already.
